Present your Offerings to the Lord

Reading:

Exodus 25:1-9 NIV

“The Lord said to Moses, “Tell the Israelites to bring me an offering. You are to receive the offering for me from everyone whose heart prompts them to give. These are the offerings you are to receive from them: gold, silver and bronze; blue, purple and scarlet yarn and fine linen; goat hair; ram skins dyed red and another type of durable leather; acacia wood; olive oil for the light; spices for the anointing oil and for the fragrant incense; and onyx stones and other gems to be mounted on the ephod and breastpiece. “Then have them make a sanctuary for me, and I will dwell among them. Make this tabernacle and all its furnishings exactly like the pattern I will show you.”

  • Let your heart be willing to bring the Lord an offering: Our God is not forceful. He tells Moses, “You are to receive the offering for me from everyone whose heart prompts them to give.” If our hearts prompt us to give, we must give. Do not hesitate. Do not hold back what rightfully belongs to God.
  • Ask God what He requires from you. Maybe God is after something specific. He lists many things that His people should bring if they are willing. He is a God of detail. Let us ask God if we ever doubt what to offer.
  • Notice that God requires the best to build His temple. We expect the best from Him, but are we willing to give him our best? Our finest, most beautiful possessions belong to Him anyway. We should provide what is valuable. Not our scraps or leftovers.
  • We do not decide what is suitable to give to God. He chooses what is suitable for Him. Ask, and be open to whatever the Lord tells you. Whatever that is or whatever amount. Give it to Him cheerfully with a glad heart.
  • There is a purpose to our giving. If we are willing to offer up to God, it’s pretty clear that what we give, He will use to build His temple. It’s all for the advancement of His kingdom. Our offering is for establishing His Church so that He may dwell with His people. “Then have them make a sanctuary for me, and I will dwell among them.” When we invite a guest we deeply admire and care about into our home, we will do everything to ensure they are welcome and comfortable. Our most beautiful possessions are on full display. Are we willing to do the same in our spiritual lives for God?
  • He is involved in everything. Even when it comes to designing and building His Tabernacle, God has a hand in it all. We must carefully follow His plan, carrying out all His work. As He commands it, let us make it. “Make this tabernacle and all its furnishings exactly like the pattern I will show you.” He is with us every step of the way.

Be willing.

Be diligent.

God is still on His throne.

Amen.
